A long-range plug-in hybrid has to have more than 50 kilometers of all-electric driving range, qualifying it for a rebate of up to $5,000. However, the short-range plug-in hybrid models with an all-electric driving range of 50 kilometers or less only qualify for a rebate of up to $2,500.
